Welcome
It is thought that Kew first became a significant place to live and settle as early as the Roman age. Already established as a settlement for the nobility, Kew Palace was built in the 1630s for a London merchant and was then used as a family home by King George III.
The world famous Kew Gardens was based on the private gardens of Lord Capel of Tewkesbury and developed by Princess Augusta. Declared national botanical gardens in the 1800s they have continued to grow and improve ever since. Nowadays Kew is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the capital, bit retains a charming feel with its village green and access to the Thames.
Here at The Botanist on The Green we are proud of our community and equally proud to serve you classic home cooking, from your favourite pub dishes (which you find difficult to cook – or simply can’t be bothered after a hard day’s work) and everything you would expect from your local, plus a touch of the exotic with inspiration from our team’s favourite food and drink from our varied homelands.
We endeavour to offer you food and drink to suit all moods. If you seek filling and comforting after a long day we can. If you want something more exotic, then hopefully we have something to suit your mood.
You’ll find a tempting range of dishes to reflect the season, in addition to some great classics British ingredients (where we can guarantee the quality and consistency) and excellent value-for-money. These change frequently and of course Sunday wouldn’t be the same without our fabulous roast washed down with a relaxing evening of live jazz!
